Maintain Synergy
Synergy improves your chances of winning and surviving enemy fire by careful positioning, use of cover, targeting, bonuses and support from other ships. Deny same advantages to opponent.
Prioritise Targets
To decide your priorities answer those questions:
What is the Biggest Threat in opponents squadron?
Where is Synergy Centre?
What is the Weak spot during this turn?
What ship is Juicy Target?
CONCENTRATE FIRE!
Know your odds, but trust your guts
Calculate number of dice and average odds of success, but trust your intuition when it tells you something. If dice would always rolled on average, ships at Range 3, behind asteroid would never die.
Acceptable losses
During list building try to understand which ship would be the star of your show, and shot magnet for your opponent. Have a plan of action in case your star would be taken out. If even that fails, smile. It's only a game.
Practise. Practise. Practise.
You should plan your games by knowing where to position and maximise your advantages. You must learn different ships and their abilities, so you could predict their moves. This demands that you learn Rule of 11 and understand how opponent's strategy. All this could be achieved by practise, practise and some practise.
